Les Misérables sont venus à Dunboyne (Les Misérables have come to Dunboyne)
by Alba Fernandez
Les Misérables made a stomp in St. Peter’s College musical history for four days and four nights in Dunboyne’s community centre.
Filled with intertwined plots and an excellent cast who not only transferred the emotion from page to screen but also gave 101% in their performance as a team, ‘Les Mis’ touched every heart in its audience.
With songs like “On My Own” and “Bring Him Home”, the public saw the characters of Eponine, Jean Valjand and Javert come alive in Fiona Egan, Conor McQuaid and Sean Carolan among others. The cast and crew worked exceptionally hard during the whole academic year to bring 1800s France to life on-stage and received much praise from the public who exited the doors with tearful eyes and overwhelmed visages.
Well done to all TYs for their superb job and to Miss Biggins and Mr Payne for the unlimited effort in the production of such great acclaimed production. Also thanks to Mr. Metcalfe, Conor Biddle, Miss Olohan, Miss Morris and the magnificent orchestra and Miss O’Carroll as well as all the other teachers that took part in making the running of the show possible.
A big thanks to Mr. Tom Fox who provided the cameras used to film the DVD and the community centre for opening its doors with relentless support.
Les Misérables has definitely raised the bar for upcoming musicals in St. Peter’s College and there is no doubt that our students and staff will continue to outdo themselves in the years to come.
