Dear Parent/Guardian,

The new term of Supervised Study is due to commence on Monday, 8th October and will run right up until the Mock Examinations in January 2019. The fee is:

    • Supervised study is open to all 3rd, 5th and 6th year students but priority of place will be given to 3rd and 6th year students.
    • The aim is to provide a period of uninterrupted study. As such, participants must work in absolute silence, in a manner that will not disturb or distract other students.
    • In accordance with the Acceptable Use ICT Policy, the use of mobile phones during supervised study is strictly forbidden. If a teacher sees or hears a mobile phone or any internet enabled device (including headphones) during supervised study, the device including SIM card will be confiscated immediately and given to the Principal or Deputy Principal. Students will be sanctioned in accordance with the Acceptable Use ICT Policy.
    • If a student       receives one note for disruptive behaviour or communication (verbal or non- verbal), a letter will be sent home. If the student receives another note for disruptive behaviour, they will be excluded from study for the rest of the term. Students’ homework journals will be stamped each day to confirm attendance at study.
    • Supervised study follows the school calendar. Study will not take place on days when events such as staff meetings, parent teacher meetings etc. occur.

Supervised study payments will be only processed via WisePay. WisePay can be accessed by going to the school website (www.stpeterscc.ie), clicking on WisePay & selecting the book rental option. Parents have been given WisePay log-in details. Once payment has been made on WisePay, the students will be assigned to a supervised study room.

By paying the supervised study fee, you are accepting the terms & conditions of supervised study. Please read attached rules of supervised study carefully before making payment

Supervised Study Student Rules

  • The aim is to provide quiet, uninterrupted study. Once study starts students will not be allowed to leave the room to go to lockers. Students are not allowed to disturb the session to ask to borrow a book, pen, ask about homework etc.   Absolute silence must be observed throughout the session and students are expected to work in a manner that will not disturb or distract other students.

  • In accordance with the Acceptable Use ICT Policy, the use of mobile phones during supervised study is strictly forbidden.   • Students not wearing the proper uniform will be refused admission until they are properly attired.

  • Students who claim to have participated in co-curricular activities will be admitted late to study if they have a note explaining where they were from the teacher in charge of the activity. Students must be back in study room by 5.00pm.

  • Students are not allowed to go to the Gannon Area or Computer Rooms instead of going to study.

  • If students need to leave study early for any reason, they must present a note in their diary to the supervising teacher.

  • Eating and drinking during study is forbidden. Students are allowed to drink water.

  • At the end of the session all rooms should be left tidy. Chairs should be placed on tables and all litter placed in the bin. As study takes place after school hours the cleaners have difficulty in cleaning these rooms, so student’s co-operation is appreciated in this matter.

  • Any student who receives one note for disruptive behaviour or communication (verbal or non- verbal) will need to see Mr. O’Connell (3rd year) & Ms.Brodigan (6th year). A letter will be sent home keeping parents informed. If the student receives another note for disruptive behaviour, they will be excluded from study for the rest of the year.

  • Failure to comply with any of the above rules will also result in students being excluded from study and forfeiting their fee.
